Conversion Success to a Dwelling

The Midlands office is pleased to have secured planning consent for a client to convert a brick ‘stable building’ to a dwelling.

The brick building was originally approved in 1992, the development was entitled ‘stable block and hay and tack rooms’.  The building was then later approved via a retrospective amendment application in July 1993.  Since 1993 the building has not been used for its approved use, essentially standing empty with a number of applications over the years submitted to convert the building to a dwelling – without success.

The applicant has owned the building for 5 years, operating a cattle enterprise on the adjoining farmland.

Thankfully the Local Planning Authority have accepted that the building, having had various owners, is not going to be put to its original proposed use and the conversion to a dwelling is considered the best use for the future of the building.

The applicant is delighted with the outcome, stating the following in respect of Acorus’ involvement in the application. ‘Amazing, you’re fantastic, thanks for all your help, your expertise is amazing. We’re extremely grateful’.
