Acorus has recently secured full planning permission for a 32,000 free-range egg-laying unit for a 3rd generation farmer in Mid Devon.
The subject site was located in proximity to an Ancient Woodland, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), Air Quality Management Area (AQMA), and was identified as having potential for archaeological interest.
Early engagement with specialist 3rd parties for initial reporting meant that Acorus could review whether the Applicant’s site would be suitable for the proposed development, whilst also identifying any potential areas of concern to be addressed before submission. The focus could then be placed on the resultant design and siting of the proposed development, in addition to landscaping proposals, to ensure that the site could meet the requirements of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG).
The application has now been approved and shall provide a BNG net enhancement of 70%. The Applicant and his family are very pleased with the outcome and the expansion of their existing poultry enterprise.
This project was for a long-term client, for which Acorus obtained planning permission for the original 16,000 free-range egg-laying unit in 2018, alongside a permanent rural workers dwelling which was approved in 2021.
