Acorus have recently obtained permission for 4.no fishing lakes as a rural tourist attraction and leisure facility, to run alongside the Applicant’s successful tourist accommodation enterprise.
The Applicant contacted Acorus with a view to maximise the value of one of their fields, which was particularly wet ground and unsuitable for grazing. The intention was to obtain planning permission for a more suitable and appropriate use of the site, which shall in turn, bring economic and environmental enhancements. Being located within the open countryside, any proposed development must be justified as requiring a countryside location. It was identified that a public fishing lake facility was a suitable proposition and supportable with local planning policy. An application was therefore prepared.
The proposed development incorporated 4.no carefully sited fishing lakes with associated picnic/angling areas, a new access track to the site, associated parking and landscaping involving alterations in site topography.
A planning statement was prepared, demonstrating that there was full compliance towards local and national planning policy. Acorus also engaged with 3rd party consultants, including an ecologist, landscape architect and drainage consultant in order to provide all reporting necessary to support the application being a ‘major’ development – with thanks to those who were involved in the scheme.
The planning application has now been approved and a significant enhancement to biodiversity shall be secured as a result of the proposal.
