Acorus South Team have recently achieved planning permission for an equine management and track system on a parcel of bare agricultural land in the south-west.
The proposal sought permission for an equine barn, together with an associated loafing area and track, to support the applicant’s proposed enterprise which is based on an alternative horse, land, and grazing management system.
The proposed enterprise ties in both equine and agricultural practices. It also places priority on the provision of progressive land management practices. The proposal ensures that equines would be able to live in herds, with their species-specific needs being met, whilst also practicing rotational and cross-grazing alongside other livestock so that on-site biodiversity can be managed and sustained. The enterprise would offer 24-hour care under a full-livery service for horses that required specialist physical or behavioural rehabilitation, or 24-hour care to keep pre-existing conditions under control.
A planning application was submitted to the LPA, alongside a strong business plan demonstrating an existing demand for the proposal which was otherwise not offered within the county. As the proposed development was in the open countryside, and nearby to residential dwellings, Acorus demonstrated that no harm would be caused as a result of the proposal.
The proposal was subsequently approved, and the applicant is looking to commence development imminently.
